Transforming Dreams, Achieving Greatness: MLQU’s 76th Graduation Ceremony

Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU) recently celebrated its 76th graduation ceremony, marking a significant milestone in the lives of 215 graduates from various programs, including law, graduate studies, and undergraduate courses.  The event was held with great pride and honor, recognizing the achievements and hard work of these remarkable individuals.

The commencement speakers for the ceremony were none other than former Vice President of the Republic of the Philippines and veteran broadcast journalist, Noli ‘Kabayan’ De Castro and esteemed alumnus of MLQU, former Governor Roberto ‘Obet’ Pagdanganan.  Their presence added a touch of distinction to the occasion, inspiring the graduates with their words of wisdom and experience.

The graduation ceremony witnessed the conferral of 13 academic awards, recognizing outstanding students who excelled in their respective fields.  Five graduates were awarded the prestigious Magna Cum Laude distinction from the School of Criminal Justice, namely Vincent Elijah Carmelo Gatchalian and Robert Andreu Yu, Jr.  Similarly, the School of Business boasted two outstanding Magna Cum Laude graduates, Don Dave Bondoc and Renz Emmanuel Fonte.  The School of Engineering proudly celebrated Edriann Bermio as their Magna Cum Laude recipient.

Additionally, two Cum Laude distinctions were awarded to RV Klein Ricalde from the School of Business and John Gabriel Nabong from the School of Engineering.  Moreover, six students from the School of Law were recognized as Second Honors recipients: Francis Nathan Vista, Kayla Gethsemane Acosta, Dannah Loise Catucod, Cathy Pauig,  Justine Joy Galvez, and Ralph Emmanuel Villarico.

A Special Award, the Dr. Jose Rizalino L. Acuzar Leadership Award, was introduced for the first time during this graduation ceremony.  It was bestowed upon Don Dave Bondoc, who graduated with a degree in BS Legal Management from the School of Business.  This prestigious award acknowledged Mr. Bondoc’s exceptional leadership qualities, highlighting his remarkable contributions to the university community.

Before the official graduation ceremony a Baccalaureate Mass was held, led by Fr, Rainiel Nachimana of the Sacred Heart Parish in Cubao, Quezon City.  This spiritual gathering provided a moment of reflection and gratitude, allowing the graduates to acknowledge the guidance and support they received throughout their academic journey.

The theme of this year’s graduation ceremony was “Transforming Dreams, Achieving Greatness: A Journey to Success.”  This theme encapsulated the essence of MLQU’s commitment to nurturing dreams and providing a platform for students to achieve greatness.  It symbolized the transformative power of education, inspiring the graduates to embrace their aspirations and strive for excellence in their chosen paths.

Former Vice President De Castro, in his commencement speech, emphasized the significance of perseverance in achieving dreams and the pursuit of success.  He encouraged the graduates to always remember the importance of education, foster a deep love for their chosen professions, uphold integrity, and take responsibility for their actions.  These invaluable lessons would undoubtedly guide them towards fulfilling their careers and personal growth.

Governor Pagdanganan, on the other hand, emphasized the importance of hard work as a fundamental ingredient for success. He urged the graduates to remain determined, resilient, and committed to their goals, knowing that their efforts would pave the way for a prosperous future.

The graduation ceremony was attended by the members of the Board of Regents, led by former Chief Justice Reynato C. Puno, university administrators and officials, deans, and faculty members.  The presence of parents and guardians added an air of pride and joy, witnessing their loved ones’ accomplishments and celebrating this significant milestone in their educational journey.

MLQU’s 76th graduation ceremony served as a testament to the university’s commitment to excellence and its dedication to producing graduates who are equipped to contribute meaningfully to society.  As these graduates embark on their respective paths, they carry with them the knowledge, skills, and values instilled during their time at MLQU.  They are now armed with the tools necessary to make a positive impact in their chosen fields and in the world.
