The event was held at the University Hotel in University of the Philippines Diliman on March 25-26, 2023 where representatives from various campus organs gathered and shared their knowledge, experiences, and the challenges encountered in countering disinformation.
Representing The Quezonians in the said conference were Jaycel Dominique C. Pante, Editor in Chief, Rayne Sarmiento, News Contributor, and Moises Quijano, Editorial Cartoonist.
On the last day of Lunsaran 2023, members of the College Editors Guild of the Philippines-NCR elected the leaders who would guide and lead them in the fight against disinformation. Jaycel Dominique C. Pante, the editor-in-chief of The Quezonian was elected as the new Education and Research Officer of CEGP-NCR.
After 4 days, the young attendees all went their separate ways, knowing they’re up against lies and to fight it, they need to be more than just journalists. In the words of Nobel Prize awardee Maria Ressa: ‘Journalism became activism’ in battle for facts.
