Strengthening Community Ties: MLQU’s Extension Services Office Partners with Barangay South Triangle

In a recent collaborative effort to foster community development, the Extension Services Office of MLQU, under the capable leadership of Ms. Sofia Caccam, met with Brangay Captain Beverly Gaw of Barangay South Triangle, Quezon City.  The purpose of the meeting was to explore potential support services that MLQU, through its Extension Services Office, could provide or assist in for the betterment of Barangay South Triangle.

The meeting proved to be a fruitful exchange of ideas, with Barangay Captain Gaw suggesting a comprehensive list of focus areas for collaboration.  The proposed areas included community peacekeeping, entrepreneurship and financial literacy trainings, legal aid, community infrastructure improvement, rebuilding of derelict areas, health and wellness, and information technology programs.  Recognizing the diverse needs of the community, both parties saw the potential for MLQU to contribute significantly to the overall well-being of Barangay South Triangle.

The subsequent discussions paved the way for a mutually agreed-upon working plan for the partnership.  The plan is structured into three main phases:

  1. Assessment Phase. MLQU and Barangay South Triangle will work together to conduct a thorough assessment of the community’s needs. This will involve engaging with the residents to gain insights into their challenges and aspirations.
  2. Awareness Phase. Once the assessment is complete, MLQU will collaborate with Barangay South Triangle to raise awareness about the programs and services that will be offered.  This phase aims to ensure that the community is well-informed and engaged in the upcoming initiatives.
  3. Mobilization Phase. This phase involves the active implementation of the identified programs.  MLQU and Barangay South Triangle will work together to organize inter-organization activities, fostering linkages and leveraging on MLQU partners, both in the government and non-government sectors, and establishing connections with business willing to contribute to the community development.

The proposed programs align with the shared vision of both MLQU and Barangay South Triangle, emphasizing the importance of holistic community development.  The inclusion of entrepreneurship training, legal aid, community infrastructure improvement, financial literacy and health and wellness programs reflects a commitment to addressing a broad spectrum of needs within the community.

Moreover, the integration of information technology programs demonstrates a forward-thinking approach to empower residents with the skills and knowledge necessary for the digital age.

As the partnership between MLQU’s Extension Services Office and Barangay South Triangle takes shape, it exemplifies the potential impact that collaboration between educational institutions and local communities can have on societal progress.  This initiative not only highlights the role of universities in community service but also underscores the importance of local leadership in driving positive changes at the grassroots level.

In the spirit of cooperation, both MLQU and Barangay South Triangle look forward to a collaborative journey that will enhance the quality of life for the residents of Barangay South Triangle and serve as a model for similar partnerships in the future.
