On May 2, 2023, 3,992 passers of the 2022 Bar Examinations took their oath before Supreme Court Clerk of Court Atty. Marife M. Lomibao-Cuevas, and signed the Roll of Attorneys at the Philippine International Convention Center in Pasay City. Among the passers are 39 from Manuel L Quezon University (MLQU), including Atty. Jennefer Estabillo one of this year’s top notchers.
The oath-taking ceremony was held at the plenary hall, with the roll signing held in the reception hall in the afternoon. The newly minted lawyers are the first batch of bar passers to take the new lawyers’ oath under the Code of Professional Responsibility and Accountability (CPRA)
The CPRA aims to promote integrity, accountability, and professionalism among lawyers in the Philippines. It requires lawyers to adhere to ethical standards, maintain client confidentiality, and avoid conflicts of interest.
MLQU takes pride in the fact that among the bar examiners are MLQU professors Carlito B. Caplatura for Criminal Law and Practical Exercises, Sandigan Bayan Justice Michael Frederick Musngi for Remedial Law I, and Professor Reynaldo G. Lopez for Political and International Law.
The new lawyers have undergone a rigorous process to reach this point, including several years of study, training, and preparation for the Bar exams. They now join the ranks of the legal profession and take on the responsibility of upholding the rule of law and defending the rights of their clients.
The oath-taking and roll signing ceremony is a significant milestone for the new lawyers and marks the beginning of their legal careers. It is a moment of celebration for the new lawyers and their families, as they look forward to the challenges and opportunities that lie ahead.
