MLQU hosted the 19th Gawad Tanglaw last May 19, 2022 at the Victoria Sports Hotel South Triangle in Quezon City.
As one of the highlights of the affair, Dr. Jaime Gutierrez-Ang, the Dean of the MLQU Graduate School Dean and presently the Gawad Tanglaw Chairman and President Emeritus led MLQU deans and officials in bestowing the prestigious MLQU Pro Patria et Jure Award for Broadcasting Journalism, which is reserved for individual journalists whose accomplishments embody and exemplify the vision-mission of MLQU. The essence of this vision- mission is to educate and foster nation builders and globally competitive professionals imbued with the spirit of selflessness and committed service and above all love of country.
The awardees are: Atom Araullo, Jessica Soho, Mel Tiangco. Vicky Morales and Karen Davila.
The Gawad TANGLAW is a 19-year-old organization of media critics composed of academics, scholars, historians and performance artists, whose aim is to “uplift the present state of media and performing arts in the country.” Members also come from various universities in Metro Manila which include MLQU, NU, FEU, DLSU, PUP, UPHSD,LETRAN, JRU, PLMun and Manila Tytana College.
For almost two decades now, Gawad Tanglaw has been awarding exemplary performances and productions in film, radio, television, and print media. It should be noted that for many years, the group’s adviser was the late Dr. Rustica C. Carpio, an outstanding alumna of MLQU and a prominent academician, actress, and writer.
