MLQU Celebrates its 77th Graduation and Commencement Exercises: A Milestone of Excellence and Inspiration

The Manuel L. Quezon University (MLQU) celebrated its 77th graduation and commencement exercises with grandeur and pride, marking a significant milestone for the institution and its 293 graduates.  Held at the prestigious Victoria Sports Towers in Edsa, Quezon City, the events spanned across two memorable days, June 22 and June 25, 2024, each imbued with moments of inspiration and celebration.

On June 22, the first day of the ceremonies, the spotlight was on the Senior High School, Undergraduate, and Graduate programs.  The atmosphere was charged with excitement as graduates, adorned in their academic regalia, gathered to commemorate years of hard work and dedication.  The overarching theme, ”Elevate, Innovate, Accelerate: Seizing Opportunities in the Digital Age,”  resonated throughout the proceedings, reflecting the university’s commitment to preparing its students for the challenges and opportunities of the modern world.

Senior High School Graduation

The Senior High School graduation was graced by the presence of Ms. Maybelle Sta. Maria Pontiveros, a distinguished alumna of MLQU.  Ms. Pontiveros, whose journey from a high school graduate to a successful professional serves as a beacon of hope and inspiration, delivered an empowering commencement address.  She encouraged the young graduates to pursue their passions with zeal and to leverage the digital tools at their disposal to innovate and excel in their chosen fields.  Her words, filled with personal anecdotes and wisdom, struck a chord with the graduates, leaving them motivated and inspired.

Undergraduate and Graduate Programs

The commencement for the undergraduate and graduate programs featured Chairman Michael G. Aguinaldo, the Chairperson of the Philippine Competition Commission and former Chairperson of the Commission on Audit, brought a wealth of experience and insights to the event.  In his address, he emphasized the importance of integrity, accountability, and continuous learning in achieving success.  He urged the graduates to be agents of positive change in society, to embrace innovation, and strive for excellence in their professional endeavors.

Juris Doctor Graduation

The highlights of the ceremonies culminated on June 25 with the Juris Doctor graduation.  This event was made even more special by the presence of BARMM Speaker Pangalian Balindong, who not only served as the commencement speaker but was also honored with an Honorary Degree, Honoris Causa, in Doctor of Laws.  Speaker Balindong’s speech was a profound reflection on justice, leadership, unity, and service to the nation.  He invited the graduates to get to know the Bangsamoro Autonomous Region in Muslim Mindanao.  Himself an alumnus of the School of Law, he spoke about the pivotal role of lawyers in upholding the rule of law and promoting social justice, urging the new lawyers to be champions of truth and defendants of the marginalized.

A Message from the Chairman and President

Chairman and President Atty. Paquito N, Ochoa, Jr., in his welcome remarks, congratulated the graduates, acknowledging their hard work and perseverance.  He emphasized that their journey had just begun and that the future was theirs to shape.  His message was a call to action for the graduates to use their education as a tool to elevate their lives, innovate in their careers, and accelerate their contributions to society. He reminded them that as they step into the next chapter of their lives, they carry the legacy of MLQU and the responsibility to uphold its values.

A Celebration of Achievements

The 77th graduation and commencement exercises of MLQU were not just a celebration of academic achievements but also a testament to the enduring spirit of the university community.  The events were a beautiful blend of tradition and modernity, with the theme encapsulating the essence of the digital age and the limitless possibilities it holds.  The graduates, faculty, and guests left the venues with a sense of fulfillment and a renewed commitment to excellence.

As MLQU continues to nurture and mold future leaders, the 77th graduation stands as a reminder of the institution’s unwavering dedication to academic excellence and holistic development.  The graduates, now equipped with knowledge, skills, and values, are poised to make significant contributions to society, embodying the spirit of “Elevate, Innovate, Accelerate.”
